CAS The Center for Analytical Sciences (CAS) at KIAS brings experts from different disciplines of analytical sciences together for collaborative research and educational activities to develop and apply new measurement systems utilizing advanced instrumentation techniques in addition to techniques particularly suitable for resource-limited and remote settings. The center provides a point of contact for national and international collaborators from academia, industry and other research organizations. In addition to research, the CAS provides trainings, workshops and chemical analysis in support of the research community.

Current projects

  1. Paper-based analytical devices for various applications such as quality screening of drugs; secondary metabolites in plant extracts; and energy reserves.
  2. Safety and waste disposal issues in chemical laboratories in Nepal
  3. Development of low cost and portable optical microscopes
